As student ambassadors, one of our most frequently asked questions is, "How can I gain experience in a classroom to decide if teaching is really for me?" There are many volunteer opportunities available but I would highly recommend substitute teaching! I have been a substitute teacher for two years now and LOVE it. I have learned so much and been able to really get my foot in the door as I network with other educators and administration. Another huge benefit is how flexible subbing is. It's the perfect college student job. Because I want you to be able to have this experience as well, I researched and compiled a list of PreK–12 substitute teaching opportunities within the BYU-PSP districts. Check them out below!

On the Jordan School District website they said, "The average student will spend an entire school year with a substitute teacher over their K–12 experience. Substitutes are an integral part of the success of a student’s education. Although a substitute is only in a classroom for a short period of time, they are a teacher and they make a difference in the lives of students.”
